From Blah to Brilliant (Part Three): Let Go and Let God! "And He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light…" Psalms 37:6by: Anthony B. Campbell In our previous article, I presented three things that we, as children of God, must do in order to move forward toward spiritual maturity: 1. Don’t Look Back 2. Focus 3. Don’t Give Up The last item I’d like to present that I believe every child of God must do in order to go from blah to brilliant can be summed up in a familiar statement- let go and let God. One of the toughest things for many Christians to do is to let God do what He does best. Jesus himself said, "If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow me." The process of self denial is not an easy task for most of us but, nevertheless, it is a MUST for all who will truly follow the Lord. This requires faith and discipline. Sometimes, we need to remind ourselves that God knows what He is doing. Remember "all things work together for good to them that love God and are called according to His purpose." How many examples can we read about in the Bible where God’s people thought they would do God a favor and help him out in their own human way? And what was the result? Child of God, you must remember you are a great work in progress. Within you, the Holy Spirit is working on a major re-construction project. Don’t get in the way. Don’t hinder the work with sin. We are told not to quench the Spirit. Just give him the tools he needs to get the job done – the Word, prayer and faithfulness- and let him work. Before you know it, you will be glowing and growing. Yes, the temptations and struggles of life will still be there, but you will be able to overcome them through the power of the Spirit. However, you have got to let some things go. What are you holding on to that is holding you back from growing and glowing? Let us lay aside every sin and weight that doth so easily beset us and let us run with patience the race that is set before us. I do not think it can get any clearer than that. Let go and let God do His job please, and before you know it, HE (not you) will bring forth your righteousness as the light. Lord, here I am. Have thine own way.
PS. Can you find the scriptures referred to in today’s article?
