Blessed Assurance

"Let not your heart be troubled…" John 14:1

In the final hours of his earthly ministry, Jesus took time to reassure his disciples. He realized that, in a few hours, their faith and everything he had tried to instill in them would be put to the test. Its one thing to be strong and courageous when you have the King of Kings standing there with you in the flesh, but its something else to be tested by the enemy and the only there is you. However, that’s where we go wrong. Every now and then, we all need a little assurance. God says to you, "My child, don’t worry."

Every child of God can take comfort in knowing that you will never be left alone nor be forsaken or abandoned by your heavenly Father. Fear and worry enter our hearts when we fail to remember the depth and meaning of God’s love and His power. Just how much does God love you? He was willing to make the ultimate sacrifice to prove His love. He wants to save you and have a true relationship with you. He loves you so much. His love is not limited by your physical circumstances (Rom. 8:38, 39). His love is REAL love. Any father that loves his child would never abandon him or her. That true father would never leave his child defenseless and open to attack from an enemy. If this is true of an earthly father, how much more is it true of your heavenly Father? (Matt. 7:7-11)

"My child, I love you. Don’t worry."

And what else can match the depth of God’s love but the unlimited extent of His power? Just think, as a child of God, you are just a prayer away from tapping into the same source of power that created the universe and everything in it. (Psalm 24:1) At your call, your Father in heaven will unleash this power, as He sees fit, in order to come to the aide of His child. (Psalm 34:17-22)

"My child, what do you need? What’s troubling you? Don’t worry. I will take care of you."

As you face the challenges of life, child of God, rest assured that your Heavenly Father is right there. He knows what you are going through. He loves you and He will never leave you. And, if you just hold on, help is on the way. Be encouraged, child of God. Don’t worry. Sometimes we all need a little blessed assurance.
