Since this is an election year, one of the big issues is likely to be the unemployment rate in our country. Apparently, there are quite a few people in the United States that have not been able to find employment. Why is this an issue of concern? Well, when people are unemployed it means they are not working and when people are not working, it affects everything from our economy to our productivity. However, just like the United States, when people are not working in the Lord’s church, it affects the church, its productivity and its progress. While jobs may be hard to come by in today’s society, the opposite is true in the kingdom of God – finding a job is not the problem but finding the workers is. Child of God, if you are looking for a good job with great benefits and an awesome retirement plan, the Lord is now hiring.

As Jesus looked out over the crowd of people in Matthew 9:36, he was moved with compassion. I am sure he was moved by the fact that there were so many people who were in so much distress and feeling hopeless. However, what was more disappointing to the Lord was that compared to the throngs of people (the harvest) who were ready and looking for help and hope, there are so few people willing to work (the labourers) to help the Lord reach the masses. Child of God, the Lord is looking for you and needs your help.

Our congregation has 7 departments and various ministries that are designed to help us accomplish God’s purpose for this church and minister to the masses within and outside of the church here in Pompano Beach. However, one of the biggest challenges has been finding Christians willing to work in the kingdom. It has been said that 10% of a congregation does 90%-95% of the work of that church. That is a sad commentary about the Lord’s church. That means that 90% of our congregation is sitting on the sidelines of the kingdom. Child of God, are you in that 90%?

Unlike this world we live in, the "unemployment rate" in the Lord’s church could and should be 0%. We should have no members on the sidelines in the kingdom. When everyone is working and doing his/her part, we will be able to lift up the name of Jesus even higher and minister to even more of the masses of people out there who are distressed and feeling hopeless. However, in order for this to happen, each member must understand that God EXPECTS him/her to work; the church NEEDS you to work; and you will be held accountable if you do not work. We are in a spiritual war. Our enemy has many who are willing to work for him 24/7. However, who is willing to work for the Lord? God has done so much for you. Are you willing to do anything for him? Child of God, the Lord is now hiring. He is offering you a good job right now with tremendous benefits. Will you accept the invitation to work for the Lord? You will not regret it.
